| Sometimes, you just need to hear the voice of another pastor on the other end of the phone line. It helps to talk with those who are experiencing what you are. A generous group of priests has offered to help. Just getting started! Fr. Eamon Tobin of Ascension Parish in Melbourne FL in the Diocese of Orlando. This parish is just now getting its program organized so Fr. Tobin can share both the angst and hopes of Lifelong Faith Formation. Fr. Bob Schramm OSFS of St. Mary of Good Counsel in Adrian, MI. Again, this parish is in the start-up phase of lifelong faith formation, but they've got a lot going on already. Down the road a bit Fr. Jan Kevin Schmidt in Cincinnati. OH. Jan has been working on whole community catechesis for more than a decade already! This parish has seen tremendous gains in engagement and faith development! Fr. Bob Deland from St. James Parish in Bay City, MI. This is his second parish experience with whole community catechesis. The parish Bob now serves is a complex one because there is also a high school on the campus. Fr. Jim Loughnane of St. Denis parish in Diamond Bar, CA in the Archdiocese of LA. Jim and his team have had great success with many excellent practices in whole community catechesis. Fr. Mike Tauke of St. Mary's parish in Waverly, IA. This is a rural parish which has succeeded in bringing a large percent of adults into faith formation. Mike and his crew have been at it many years! Fr. Bob Duggan, long the pastor at St. Rita's in the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. Bob has found very effective ways to create a liturgically-centered approach that is both creative and repeatable! Non-Priest contacts Leisa Anslinger of IHM in Cincinnati, OH. She wrote Here Comes Everybody, and has helped hundreds of parishes as a coach and mentor. Her new book, written in collaboration with Vikki Shepp, is Forming Generous Hearts and will be available this summer. It lays out a great process for stewardship based on lifelong faith formation rather than "fund raising." Vikki Shepp whose work in youth ministry and adult formation creates an invaluable source of wisdom. Her parish is one of the first in the nation to be working with Into the Fields - a powerful teacher and catechist formation process. Bill Huebsch who is one of the folks in the country who is helping train and coach parish leaders as we enter into this new period of history in the church, a period which is marked by its attention to the adults as well as the children. |
